What proportion of Orders become Completed sales?
We recognise conversion is key to a successful affiliate programme and we are continuously developing new ways to improve conversion through our site.
In common with other mobile phone retailers, however, a number of Carphone Warehouse orders do not become completed sales. Currently between 40 and 50% of orders made with The Carphone Warehouse do not become completed sales. This is predominantly due to the large number of contract phones that we sell.
The two main reasons contracts don't get approved are:
- The customer fails the credit check
- The customers credit card is declined
When a customer passes the credit check and if their credit card is accepted they are sent their phone. The phone will then become "live" when the customer rings the network and gets it connected. The customer has up to 7 days to do this otherwise the sale is declined. From time to time we do have stock issues that can result in a declined sale, but the proportion of times this happens is low.
New Deleted transactions process
As of August 2007 the programme will move to a weekly deletions process whereby each week we will remove uncompleted orders from the system made in the previous week.
This will allow you to measure your conversion rates and campaign effectiveness more accurately as you will only be waiting a week at a time for your approved sales, rather than this information being processed once a month.
